PTO Events
AUTHOR DAY BOOK SALE - The Author Day book sale is held during American Education Week parent visits. At that time, books by our visiting author will be available for review and purchase. Later in the year, the children will send in their books for the visiting author to autograph their copies. Volunteers are needed to help sell books during parent visitation.
BOOK FAIR - This event is held in March, for three days and one evening, during Readathon month. Volunteers are needed to assist children in finding books in the AM, PM, and one evening shift. This activity has
benefited our school by helping us to supplement our library collection and classroom teacher book collection.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION - We are collecting box tops from General Mills products (look for the special coupon). This is a project coordinated by the 5th grades. Volunteers are needed to count the coupons.

CASH BACK PROGRAMS (GENUARDI'S, ACME, REDNERS)
REDNER - Save your Redner receipts. Please pick up a card from customer service to present at the register. Send your receipts to school to be placed in the Redner box. Volunteers are needed to add up the receipts once a month and turn them into Redner for us. We get 1% of totals.

FAMILY SOCIAL - This is an annual event usually held on a Friday night in January or February in which families get to socialize with one another. In the past, this event has been known as Music and Munchies, Pizza Night and now Pizza Bingo.
FUND RAISING - The fall fund-raiser that takes place in September is the PTO's main fundraising event. This event will help our school earn the money we need for class trips, assemblies and many extras throughout the year. This year's fundraiser will be with Sally Foster products. In the future all fundraisers will be part of this committee.
HOLIDAY SHOP - This event is held for 3 days in December. It gives the children the opportunity to shop for a special gift for their families and friends. Volunteers are needed for AM and PM shifts to help children with their purchases.
HONOR BOOKS - This is an on-going program in conjunction with our librarian, Mrs. Bogia, in which books can be purchased for the library in honor of a person or event. A bookplate will be placed on the front of each book with the person's name and the reason for the honor. Volunteers are needed to work with Mrs. Bogia to help with the paperwork of the program and the processing of the books.
HOSPITALITY - This is our welcoming committee for all of our special events. They provide juice and cookies at kindergarten registration, coordinate Staff Appreciation Day, coordinate refreshments for Back-to-school nights and other functions throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to help in table set up, serving and cleanup.
MOVE UP DAY - This event is a graduation ceremony for the 5th graders and is held in June. The committee works with the principal and 5th grade teachers in developing a theme for the celebration, coordinating a food committee, flowers and t-shirts for the students, decorations, etc. Volunteers will be needed to help with food, decorations, etc.
PRETZEL SALES - Each month students can purchase soft pretzels at school. Order slips are sent home prior to the sale date. Volunteers are needed for morning order taking and afternoon pretzel packing.
SCHOOL GARDEN - The Heckman Memorial Garden is maintained throughout the year. Volunteers are needed in the fall and spring to plant, mulch, and maintain the garden.
SCHOOL STORE - Each month students can shop at the school store during lunch recess. A variety of school supplies can be purchased and also some "fun" items. Volunteers are needed to help the children shop.
SKATING PARTIES - This is an event usually held 2 or 3 times throughout the school year on a Saturday afternoon at a local skating rink. Tickets are sold at school and at the door. Skates can be rented or you can bring your own.
SOUP LABELS - We collect Campbell's Labels for Education labels from a variety of Campbell's foods. We use these labels to purchase and restock our playground balls and equipment. Write your child's room number on the back of the labels before they are deposited in the giant soup can in the front lobby. Volunteers are needed to count labels a few times a year.

SPRING FAIR - A fun filled annual family event held in May. Games, food, chance booths and items for sale provide entertainment for the whole family. Many volunteers are needed to run this event - set up, run booths, serve food, and clean up.
STORY HOUR - This is a weekly preschool story hour for 3 to 5 year olds and their parents sponsored by the PTO. Parents volunteer weekly to read stories and do a corresponding craft.

YEARBOOK - An annual yearbook is published, showing the events of the school year. Volunteers are needed to take pictures in classrooms and at school events, cut and paste pictures and other materials, take orders and deliver yearbooks.
